Two areas in many homes are often neglected when it comes to cleaning. That is your garage and laundry room. Here are some essential cleaning tips for both areas. Even though you might not spend a lot of time in your laundry room and garage, cleaning this area every few months is still essential.
- Do a Clean Cycle in the Washing Machine
After running a clean cycle, wash the soap dispenser by hand. Next, run another cleaning cycle with 2 cups of bleach, 1 cup of warm water, and 1 cup of vinegar. Finish another cleaning cycle with ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of water. Afterward, clean the machine’s sides and top with a damp rag.
- Clean the Dryer
When cleaning your dryer, remove the lint trap and wash it. After that, lay it out to dry while unplugging the dryer from its wall outlet. Use a vacuum hose to remove any lint or debris inside the trap. Next, wipe down the top and sides of the dryer before plugging it in again.
- Restock Supplies
After restocking your detergent, bleach, dryer sheets, and other supplies, remove all excess containers and empty shelf spaces from your laundry room. Clean the shelves and cabinets with a disinfecting wipe.
- Arrange Your Storage
Many people don’t realize that their garage is a suitable storage place for more than just tools and sporting equipment. They use this space to hold seasonal décor, toys, and household appliances. To maximize efficiency while storing items in the garage, create an organized system and sort through everything you’re keeping. Additionally, throw away anything broken or unwanted.
- Clean Up Spills
Use cat litter to absorb any fluids or oil on your garage floor. Additionally, collect spilled oil or car fluids by moving cars onto the driveway. If you have some extra time, this would be a great time to clean the whole space and scrub the floor.
